Crafting Content with Zach & Austin

Content: What is it? And why is it important?
Greetings from Austin Wildmann and Zach Peacock.  In this, our initial post, you will find  content...content dedicated to the discussion and diffusion of information about content
In general, content is defined as “the subject or topics covered in a book or document.” Obviously, this definition was coined before the emergence of internet or social media.
For the sake of comprehension and contemporary application, let’s just say that the definition of content is as follows: “Any information which is viewable, reusable and shareable, found in any format, i.e., books, magazines, newspapers, organizational websites, social media, and blogs; and can range from excellent in quality and usefulness to abuse and spam.”
Often, content is created by consumers and when it is, it's called Consumer Generated Content or “CGC.” This type of content usually appears in the form of tweets, status updates, wall posts or blogs. Simply put, content is what makes up the online experience. Good content drives traffic to websites and boosts brand equity, while bad content damages brand equity, reputations and often frustrates consumers. The creation of negative content should be avoided at all costs.

Over the course of the posts to this page, Austin Wildmann and I (Zach Peacock) will take a look at various types of content, the effects of good content and bad content, and how consumer generated content can either make or break a business or a brand.
We hope you keep coming back and enjoy our posts as much as we love sharing our new found knowledge with you.
           Content!
